Well suited to stand up to challenging, corrosive and abrasive environments, Crompion International’s Cromgard Specialty Stainless Steel has a long history of superior performance in the sugar industry. A low-cost, next-generation stainless steel, Cromgard C12 provides strength, corrosion and abrasion resistance, durability and low maintenance, as well as good weldability and formability, making it capable of fabrication by conventional techniques. The material is ductile and has the ability to withstand temperatures between 1112 – 1382° Fahrenheit in unloaded conditions. Cromgard C12 offers the highest specified design (yield) strength versus A36 Carbon (29% greater), 304L (86% greater), and Aluminum (290% greater). Additionally, its hardness, 220 Brinell max, is superior to 304L (9% greater) and Aluminum (70% greater). Cromgard C12 has been used in the sugar industry for years in a range of applications, successfully contributing to reduced maintenance costs, longer equipment life and less downtime.
